Althea Wasow
Filmmaker & Teacher | University of California, Berkeley

Wasow is a teacher and filmmaker pursuing her Ph.D. in Film & Media at UC Berkeley. the wannabe, a film she wrote and directed, won Best Short at HBO’s New York International Latino Film Festival. In addition to national and international film festivals, her films have screened at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, and the Queens Museum of Art. Her collaborations in film and visual culture include An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar (senior editor & co-writer, Steidl, 2007) The Innocents (producer & project editor, Umbrage, 2003), and Rikers High (co-producer, Showtime, 2005). Wasow is a co-founder of the Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP), a nonprofit organization that uses the power of art and design to increase meaningful civic engagement. In 2011, she co-organized the First International Berkeley Conference on Silent Cinema, “Cinema Across Media: The 1920s.” Most recently, she taught courses on the history of photography and silent film and policing at The New School. She obtained her BA in Modern Culture and Media at Brown University and her MFA in film directing at Columbia University School of the Arts.

Anton Seals Jr.

A South Shore Chicago native, Anton is a strong cultural voice of his generation. Organizer, educator, community connector, filmmaker and entrepreneur. Anton’s work is dedicated to service and active engagement through the use of media arts, community organizing and empowerment to dismantle oppressive system impacting divested and oppressed communities. Anton started Seals360group to focus on audience community engagement, advocacy/policy and social enterprise development. Anton is currently the Lead Steward (Executive Director) of Grow Greater Englewood a social enterprise focusing on building a equitable and resilient local food system. Anton also is on staff at the Egan Office for Urban Education and Community Partnership at DePaul University(where he is also an Alumni) training and teaching with a cross-section of small and large organizations.  Anton is one of the founders of the Revival Arts Collective, a group of artists committed to using arts and culture as a catalyst for community redevelopment.

Donald Cohen
Executive Director | In the Public Interest

Donald Cohen is the founder and executive director of In the Public Interest, a national resource and policy center on privatization and responsible contracting. Donald is a founding board member of the Partnership for Working Families. He is the former Political Director of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Labor Council and founder and executive director of the Center on Policy Initiatives, a San Diego-based think tank and policy organization. He is currently on the board of the Ballot Initiatives Strategy Center. His opinion pieces and articles have appeared in the New York Times, Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The New York Daily News, and other online and print outlets.
